Week 1 Andover, Minnesota

What up family and friends!!
I made it to Minnesota safe!! I’m serving in Andover..it’s a town like 30 minutes from the twin cities. me and my comp. sister Szabo are the first sisters to serve in the area for years. So our area book is blank!! I take this as challenge accepted!! We have been doing a lot of tracking and not had much luck. But yesterday (Sunday 25, 20013) we made our first return app.!!! i was so excited. Her name is JoAnn and she is a little old lady and I’m not kidding when I say her home is like great grandmas times 1000!!!!! its really bad, but she is the sweetest lady!! we are going back on Friday!!

We also sent most of Saturday building a map of the area. It took forever!! But we finished!!

Church was really overwhelming on Sunday. Everyone was shaking our hands and telling us their names, but I can’t remember any of them cause it was all so fast.  The members here are great!  I’m leaving in a members basement. It’s nice. We have a lot of space and our own kitchen so that’s nice.

My comps name is sis Szabo...she has been serving for 6 months and is awesome.  We get along great! She is from Utah and went to Snow College.

My last couple days at the mtc were good. I miss my old district and the girls in my appt.  We had become great friends and when we got to Minnesota they told us that we were not allowed to email anyone in our mission--even the sisters!---we were really sad cause they told us we could in the MTC..So we were all really looking forward to that.

I don’t have much time..so I hope everyone knows how much I love them and miss them!!!

Love-

Week 2 MTC

What Up??

This week has been crazy, i feel like it has been months since i emailed last! But everything is great :) On Sunday i was asked to give a talk in sacrament meeting and it was kinda scary.  all week i felt like i want going to be picked to speak so i was like stressing about and then i was!! i think it went okay..i talked on baptism and how it is need to enter the kingdom of God.  i shared what i remember about when i was baptized, and a scripture. i hope that i will NOT be picked again! hahahaha!!! i had a crazy experience that totally strengthen my testimony!  We have to teach a investigator named Nate (its our teacher who is role playing as someone from his mission). the first 2 lessons i would feel impressed to teach something and i would, but i would totally mess it up..like i couldn't express in words what i was thinking and it was just horrible!  Later both days we would go to zone teaching and the lesson would be on the topics i tried to teach!!! i would role play in zone teaching with the members in my groups and it would be amazing!! i truly feel like i needed to have an experience teaching a really bad lesson before i could teach it correct.  i really zone teaching, i feel the spirit so strong and love teaching about how to apply the lessons to peoples lives.  i hope i will be able to teach in the field like i do in zone teaching.

on tuesday for the devotional Elder Scott came and talked to us.  he talked about prayer and how important it is..one of the many things that suck out to me was when he talked about the three ways we could get answers from our prayers. 1: we would get a good feeling and know we are doing what is right. 2: we would get a feel that would discourage us and know what we were doing was wrong 3: we would get a feeling to go ether way and just have to act on faith, knowing heavenly father will not let us get off the path to far.  what was really cool was that he gave us an Apostolic Blessing!! my branch president said that they don't give thoughts that often, so we needed to write down what he said..i wrote it in my journal..it was cool.

So my branch president and his wife are so sweet...when i met them for the first time, the first thing he said to me was that my dad was one of his missionaries and that he knew i was his from my picture!! i was like holy cow!! my dads mission president is my branch president!! cool right??

in gym this week we started playing Ultimate Frisbee, it was soo much fun..i loved it because i could get in a great workout but still have fun with my district! BUT on like Wednesday we were told that we couldn't play anymore and that we would get in trouble if we did!!! dumb right!!! i was soo mad and sad at the same time!! im sad because thrusday was the last day of gym time because now all the time we are not in class we need to use to start packing to leave for Minnesota!! its weird its almost time to go..im really happy to go, but im really gunna miss the kids in my district.  They are: me, Sister Smith, Sister Simpson, Sister Curtis, Elder Ford, Elder Hughes, Elder Marvin, Elder Thomas, Elder Curtis..and no the Curtis are not related :) we have so much fun together and are really like one big family!

We got to go to main campus for in field training and that was a lot of fun.  we were in little classes all day to learn how to do all kinds of stuff like planning and goals to working with the members in our wards.  the teachers were great and it made me super excited to go to work! while i was there i saw my friend from work Sister Upshaw!! it was so cool to see her here..she is going to Florida and leaves next week! she is going to be an awesome missionary.

so i dont think i really explained where im really at..So because there are so many missionaries im not up at the main campus..im at what is called West campus..i really like it here because the rooms are bigger and there are only four girls that share the apt.  its nice to have all the space to move around and not feel like you are stepping on someone.

i leave the MTC on wednesday morning!!! its weird it is already time to leave..my next email will be from the land of 10,000 lakes!! i love you all and am so grateful for all the support!!  talk to you soon!!

Week 1 MTC

WhatUp friends and family!!!!

i have been in the MTC for like 3ish days and im doing good! i have been able to feel the spirit in most of my classes and studies! i love how much we pray here! No joke im like praying all the time and we pray over EVERYTHING!!! My comps name is sister smith and we get along great. we have fun studing together and we are good teachers together.  the other day we had to teach our first investagator and while we were doing our personal study we both were coming up this a lesson outlline. While i was planning i could only come up with a good ending, but no start.  when we came together we she had a start but no end!! and they matched up perfect ! it was crazt! My district rocks!! we are like one big family! i love gym time! it is like drinking an energy drink.  its funny because most days i dont want to go, but Keairra told me NOT to skip gym time and that is some great advice because i always fill better after gym.

Honestly, the first two days were soo hard! i want to come home..i didn't feel ANY emotion! it was crazy...i don't know if it was shock or if i just wasn't in the right mind set or what, but i just wanted to cry..no worries though cause i didn't !!! i didn't think i could make it another day but somehow i did!! Friday was like a complete 180! i was able to feel the spirit and just be happy.  i hope it stay or its gunna be a LONG week!  some told me that days were going to feel like weeks and weeks were going to feel like days and looking over the past couple days it totallly see it! they have been some of the hardest days for my life but looking back they have went by super fast.

im not on the main MTC building, im at the Wyview apts.  its cool but at the sametime i feel like im missing some of the experince.  The food is not every good :( i dont like it...but its whatever i guess.

I got to meet our branch pres. last night and he seems nice.  he talked about following the mission rules and how it will bring us more joy and we will have a better experince if we do so.

There is an Elder Curtis in my group and he is from st george! he went to Dhills and is related to the sweetens and simisters! its crazy becuase the day before i came to the MTC i was talking to Kim about coming and she said he was here!! its cool that he is in my District.  Everyone in my district is from utah but two..they are from Wyoming and Alambama!!

thanks for all the love and support and letters!

love you all

Randi
