Week 5 Edina, Minnesota

Family and Friends!!

Well, winter is here! Holy cow!! Its dang cold all of the sudden! Here is the thing, on Christmas we didn't even wear our coats! And then the day after it was FREAKING cold! And we had to put our coats back on...I was really hoping that it would be a warmer winter, but I guess not.

This week has been great! We have done a lot of service!! we helped make tutus and moped a kitchen floor...we also had a zone service morning and all went to Feed My Starving Children...i love doing service...I feel like we are able to get to know the people we are teaching and work with in a different way when we serve them.

We had a party on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. I think I was more stuffed then on Thanksgiving! It was crazy how much food we ate!! we had breakfast with all the missionaries in our ward over at the Graffs house...it was really good! After breakfast we played signs!! It was a party! Then sister Noe and I had a lunch appointment with some investigators! That was good!! And then it was time to talk to our families!! Holy cow!! That was the best!! I loved it! All my mom’s side of the family was there!! Everyone is so big!! I cannot wait to come home and give them all a hug! Then I talked to just my family!! They are the best!! I have blessed with the best family in the whole world!! It was so awesome to see them! and then we ate some more! We came home that night was were so full, I didn't even want to think about food!

In Sacrament meeting on Sunday, two re-turn missionaries spoke about their experiences on their missions....it freaked me out to think that I’m going to have to speak when I get back!! I’m not ready for that..but they did a great job! They both talked about conversion and it was cool how they pointed out that before they could help others become converted to the gospel they had to be converted....it’s totally true!

Sorry, it’s really short this week! We don't have as much time because our pday this week is on Thursday...I hope yall have a great week and a happy New Year! Thanks for all the love and support!!! Talk all yall next year!!

Week 4 Edina, Minnesota

family and friends!

here is the thing, its like end of December and there is no snow on the ground and its raining....what is this?!? its not even really that cold..POSITIVE!

this week has been great! there have been so many miracles, its crazy! I don't even know where to start!! its all so good!!

so, last week was our ward Christmas party and a brother S brought a friend that he had met in the post office during the week to the party...see you can do missionary work anywhere! haha!! He invited her to met with us and she said yes! so we got a member referral! and we had a great lesson with her! We met her at the church and did a church tour and talked about the restoration of the gospel..we ended the tour in the chapel and talked about Joseph Smith...the spirit was so strong!! When we invited her to be baptized she was so excited, she did the spirit dance!! haha!! I swear just about all the people that I’ve gotten to work with has there own little "spirit dance"

another awesome thing this week happened last night...we had a lesson that canceled and we didn't really know where to go..we had an appointment at 8pm by our house and we had like 30ish minutes before we needed to be there...so we started walking down the street, not knowing where we were going..as we were walking sister Noe pointed to an apartment building that she thought we could try...so we did...and the first door we knocked on, we met D from Kenya! she has been in the US for 2 weeks! she let us in and we watched the He is the Gift video...it was awesome! she was so excited to have us over and we are going back over on Christmas night! it was really awesome! I love how Heavenly Father sends you to were you are most needed!

I'm so excited for Christmas this week! its my favorite time of year and the BEST time to be a missionary! Thanks for all the love and support! I have the best friends and family in the hole world!!

Week 3 Edina, Minnesota

Family and Friends!!

I cannot tell yall how great this week has been! I feel like there has been miracles 24/7! its been awesome and guess what....on top of all the spiritualness, it was been warm! all the snow has pretty much melted and I’m not wearing my leggings or my big coat! so crazy!! it totally is not normal December weather in Minnesota! but i really like it!

I don't even know where to begin about this week! its been great and so full of the spirit!....

We had our Christmas Conference this week and it was awesome! I would say that it was one of my top three favorite Conferences that I’ve had on my mission! it was so good!! President and Sister Forbes did a great job and the music was awesome! President and Sister Forbes did a training on etiquette..oh my word..it was so funny! President Forbes was our example of what not to do...and it was PERFECT!!! it made me laugh the hole time!

in the mission they have a Christmas tradition of watching a movie at the end of Christmas Conference...last year we watched Miracle and this year we watched Its a Wonderful Life..it was really good....I had never seen it before, so I didn't really know what it was about, but I really liked it. Sister Noe was freaking out cause her family watches it every Christmas, so that as fun..she made sure I didn't get too lost! haha!! it was fun to just relax will all the missionaries in our area...I also got to catch up with the Prior Lake Elders and Sisters so that was fun.

Right after the Conference we went on Exchanges..I went to Bloomington and worked with Sister Smaellie...she came out in my group so I knew her from the MTC...we had a lot of fun! on Tuesday night we had a total rock out moment with all the Bloomington teams at a part members house....it was awesome! there are some really talented Elders and Sisters in the mission!! Elder Smith totally rocked out on the guitar and Elder Youngberg sang!! then we rapped book of mormon stories! words cannot express how totally awesome it was! I wish I would have videoed it! it was the best! Don't worry..we did work and teach some lessons...we taught this really cool Asian guy, who has the best questions that totally made me think....it was fun..i really enjoyed working with Sister Smaellie.

Saturday was our ward Christmas party! that was fun...the food was great! and our investigators had a good time...the best part was that these two little boys...they are like 5 and 3 years old and they sang: Far, Far Away on Judea's Plains...it was so cute! I did get that one on camera! we also went to a Christmas Concert on Sunday night...i got to see some of my friends from Austin! it was so cool to hear how they were doing and catch up...they said that everyone is pretty much the same and the work is still moving forward, which is awesome!

I have been so blessed to have been able to meet such awesome people here! I’m so thankful for them and the experiences that I’ve had while serving! it was the BEST choice I made! i'm so grateful for all the love and support from all of you! yall are the best!! I hope you have a great week!! HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!!! so crazy that Christmas is next week!!

Week 2 Edina, Minnesota

Family and Friends!!
Its been another awesome week in Edina! We have been working 24/7! its been awesome!! Sister Noe is such an awesome missionary! I have learned so much from her in the past like 2 weeks we have been companions! its awesome!!
This week has been packed with so many miracles! its been awesome!
At the beginning of the week, I thought this week was going to be long and kinda hard, because we had a lot of our appointments fall through and we have been doing A LOT of finding. But miracles have come from our finding! We have been able to talk to a lot of cool people and share the "He is the Gift" video! so that has been awesome..
Friday we were knocking doors in an apartment building and we got talking to a guy from Africa...he is here on a Volleyball scholarship for the U of M...we asked him if he had a smart phone..and know joke sat on his steps outside of his apartment and watched the video! After it was over, he said that there was a really strong spirit in the movie...we talked to him after about our church and invited him to come to the ward Christmas party on Saturday...i really hope he comes!!
On Tuesday we met a really cool lady, again from Africa...she was coming home from and we were knocking on her neighbors door and I started to talk to her...we got talking and she didn't seem into what we had to say and as she was closing the door I asked if there was anything we could do for her...she asked us what we meant by that and I replied that we loved to offer service like cleaning or shoving snow...the only problem with the last one was that she lives in an indoor apartment building...so she didn't have any snowy side walked so shovel...he eyes lite up and asked us if we were for real....she had been praying all day to know how she was going to be able to get her apartment clean before her friend from out of state come to visit...We were able to set up a time on Friday to go back and help her out! Its really cool how service softens peoples hearts...we were able to share a little message with her and she wanted us to come back to meet her friend!  We went back on Sunday night to meet her friend, who happened to be from my companions home town! CRAZY, right?!? it was really cool!
We have been working with a lot of less active members and it kills me how many of them have served missions and have then gone less active when they have come home! I don't understand how someone could have such a spiritual and life changing experience and stop progressing...its so sad!  But they are great people and have great testimonies..we just need to help them remember them! haha!!!
So, another really cool experience we had this week...we were looking through a list of people that missionaries have talked to in the past to see if there was anyone that stuck out to us.....sister Noe was looking down the list of names and she stopped at one....and said that we should call them...so I did! And he totally answered! I talked to him for a minute about who I was and asked if missionaries could stop by cause the note next to his name said that he lived in Richfield..that is out of our area, but we know the Elders that are in that area and we were going to sent them if we could set up an appointment. He said that he would love to talk to missionaries about Jesus Christ and made an appointment! I asked if I could get his address and when I gave it to me, it was in Minneapolis!!! and totally in our area! so we get to go to the appointment! it was so cool! Sister Noe was totally inspired to pick his name!!
We put up our Christmas lights and a little tree in our apartment! it looks so cute!! and then this morning I got a package from grandma with more Christmas decorations, you better believe we are going to put them up! I love Christmas decorations! they totally help bring in the spirit!! This is the best time of year!! I just love it!
Thanks for all your love and support!

Week 1 Edina, Minnesota

Family and Friends!!

So much has happened in the past week! So crazy how everything can change so fast! I guess I should start at the beginning.....

It still freaks me out that one email can totally change everything! I’m talking about the transfer email!!! I was so sad that I was moving to a new area because everything was going great in Prior Lake, but I get the Lord needed me in Edina so it’s all good...kinda......I’m working accepting the Lords will are rolling with it...its something that DOESNT happen overnight. ;)

So that meant that all of Monday and Tuesday was booked with stop bys to say bye to pretty much the hole ward!! However we had a pretty awesome experience on Monday night.  so, there is a lady that we had been trying to get into contact with for like the past 3ish months but could never catch her at home.....they was one day that me and sister pead met her, but we were unable to get an appointment that would fit both of our schedules....then like a month ago, me and sister Anderson where able to catch her and talk to her for a bit....I remember that we sang a song and just got to know her.  Well, on Wednesday of last week, she called us!!! And wanted to meet with us again! MIRACLE!! We set up a time and were able to meet on Monday night.  Her name is sister B and for whatever reason me and her totally clicked! I was so sad that I was leaving and would get to work with her!!! We talked for a bit and worked on a puzzle...then on Tuesday she texted us and asked if we could stop over again on Tuesday night before I left....we did and guess what!?! She gave me some puzzles to take to Edina and a sweet note! It was so cool! I totally believe that we were meant to meet each other!

So, Wednesday was transfers....it was hard to leave in the morning...but I did it and  came to Edina.  Edina is a good spot, I’m still working on getting to know everyone and there dog, but I hope to catch on fast because my companion sister Noe is going home at the end of the transfer!! so I will be taking over the area! so scary!!  We had thanksgiving on Thursday...the food was great, but it was a little awkward cause I was at people's houses that I didn't even know, but that is life of a missionary...I should be used to that by now! hahaha!!  of course I loved the pumpkin pie and the turkey! it was great!!

So, Edina is a richer area, but we also work in part of Minneapolis and at town named St. Louis Park.  There are a lot of Africans in Minneapolis and St. Louis Park, so that has been a lot of fun...they are so humble! it’s so awesome!! One of the recent converts here is from Liberia...and on Friday night she taught us how to braid her hair!! it was totally cool...and I had some African rice stuff...it was pretty good, I’m kinda excited to try more African food!

On Saturday we were doing some finding and GUESS WHAT!?! Someone has a full on hockey rink in there front yard! in my head all I could think was...you know you are in Minnisota when your neighbors have a hockey rink in their front yard.....of course I will send home a picture!

Thanks again for all your love and support!! hope yall have a good week!!
