Week 3 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Friends And Family!!!

It was been a great week..full of so many miracles!! Heavenly Father has so blessed me and sister reber..and I know it is because of the prayers from my loved ones!! I can never thank yall enough! I don't even know where to start! Well, we were blessed this week with some WARM weather!! You know you have a problem when warm weather is like 37*!! Ya! I didn't know how to feel about this!! Half of me was like: Yes! I can ditch this cape of a coat and these bulky shoes!! Where the other half was like: Crap!! you so know all this snow that has melted is going to freeze and we will be covered in a nice blanket of ice..RIGHT?? Well, this battle was short lived cause the next day we were back to the cold! and sure enough, we did have A LOT of ice!!

Sister Reber and I had some great lessons this week! it was awesome to see how the spirit works and how when you act on the promptings of the spirit miracles come! On Friday we were knocking doors...while we were walking ran into a guy named Brother J.  He was younger and had this gnarly tattoo on the side of his face and so of course, that is so what I asked him about first! Come to find out, he is a less active member, who has not been to church in a while.  He told us that it really bugged him that people would judge him and this really hurt him.  When I heard this it hurt me..it really bugged me that he would be so hurt by other members that he would no longer feel comfortable coming to church..he did point out that he knew that it was stupid to worry about how others viewed him, but it was hard when you didn't look like the "typical Mormon".  However, he said that he was now at a point in his life where he was ready to try again.  I'm so stoked to meet with him this week and to more fully understand his story.  I really hope that we can help him rebuild his faith and help him come closer to our Savior Jesus Christ again.

Sister Reber and I also met with another Less active this week.  Her name is Sister S.  She is older and just a small little thing! No joke she could  fit in my purse!!  I loved talking with her..she has some great insights on the gospel from all her years of research.  During our visit, she totally opened up to us about herself and told us a lot of personal stories..it totally helped us truly understand her so much better.  She is such a strong person and had overcome so much hardship in her life...the best part is that on Sunday when we got to church she was there!!!  It ALMOST made me cry..I was so happy to see her there!! It also made me stop and think for just a moment....seeing someone at church makes me cry???? Yep..I’m a missionary!

Sunday was just a great day....the primary people had to have a training third hour, so the RS took over the primary. I loved being with all the kids in primary again..it made me think of my cute little class and how much fun it was to be with those sweet spirits! I totally miss primary!!! We sang tons of fun songs and had a great sharing time..it was so awesome!  Following the great spirit that primary brings, we had a great lesson with one of our investigators, Sister G.  She has been investigating the church for a number of years, but because of personal problems she hasn't been baptized.  Her son J was baptized like 2ish years ago and is a rock star!! Last lesson we had left her to read Mosiah 18:8-9 on the covenant we make with God when we are baptized. We talked about and she said that she is wants to pray for a date and then do whatever is necessary to work towards that date. it was so great!! the spirit was totally in charge of that lesson! Well, I’m out of time, so I cannot sent pictures this week , but will next week! Thanks for all your love and support!

Week 2 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Friends and Family!

So this has been a "different" kinda week...full of all kinds of drama and suspense..it was like a moive! okay, maybe it would have been a boring movie but I can dream eh?

We had the great opportunity of studying Repentance for our Zone Conference this past week. It was awesome! I love reading talks and thinking about all the different view points of a topic because they are always so current with what we teach people! Like no joke, the days leading up to our conference we taught our investigators about repentance and the info we learned from the talks we studied were just what they needed to hear! I love how the Lord works! its so great! We were able to have a great discussion as a zone that left me with great insights on repentance..which is awesome because normally, i'm not the biggest fan of the conference, but this one was great! We also learned about how we can better work with members in our areas and how we can help them.  I loved it!

After the conference we drove home like normal..we stopped at home to get something before we went to our appointment. Our car freaked out in the driveway, I didn't want to drive it to our appointment so we had a member take us over..and the next day the car wouldn't start at all.  it was crazy!  I totally felt blessed to have gotten home safe and to have not been stuck somewhere between the conference and our home.  However, we were without a car all weekend and had to walk to miles and miles to get to and from one place to another..the members in our ward totally helped us out to drive us around, but still we had to walk most places....it was cold and hard..but we survived! and will get our car back this afternoon! Thank heavens!!

On Saturday we met this awesome lady, Sister W, while doing some finding...we were knocking doors and she totally let us in her home...she asked the most perfect questions and we were able to teach her about the restoration of the gospel..it was awesome! she told us about how she would go to Arizona to see the pretty white building at Christmas time cause it had tons of lights! she was talking about the Temple! We thought that was awesome!  She was super nice and i'm looking forward to go back this week to teach her more!

Well, I don't really know what else to say so I hope everyone has a good week and I will send pictures next time! thanks for all the love and support!

Week 1 Prior Lake, Minnesota

This is me and sister Reber with our awesome hair nets
and cool feed my starving children tshirts!
we are pretty good lookin" hahahahahaha

Friends and Family!!

Crazy that I have been gone for 6 months now!! Time goes by so fast; I don't feel like I’ve been in Minnesota for that long!  This week has been bitter/sweet.  saying goodbye to all my new friends in Austin was so hard, it really felt like I was leaving home for the second time! I don't think that I have cried as much as is did! and when I think about it it’s so crazy because I’ve only known these people for 12 weeks and I feel like I have known them for so long.  It was super sad to say goodbye to Brother L and Brother T!! after we left their apartment, Brother L sent us a text that said that it was not going to be the same without me, but he knew that I was his sister and that we were all part of "Father in Heaven’s " family..it was so sweet!! He is so awesome and I’m sad that I will not be able to get to be there for his baptism.  Saying bye to sister Amis was also super sad..we had become such great friends!  She was so much fun to serve with..she always kept me laughing, yet we had some spiritual moments that I will never forget! And the Members!!! Holy Cow! They were the BEST! The Austin ward truly has a feeling of family that I’ve never felt in any other ward! I can’t wait to go back a visit after my mission, who would have thought that SPAM town would be at the top of the list of places I want visit!!  So, Monday and Tuesday were full of goodbyes...we visited everyone and their dog! One funny moment was that me and sister Amis were driving and out of nowhere we hear the pop sound..she turned to me and said, What is this? a drive by shooting?!? we looked out the dark windows and then we saw what had happened...in the corner of the windshield has a HUGE splat of bird-crap!! we thought it was the funniest thing ever!! No joke, it sounded like a gun! it was so loud....then we tried to wash it off with the wipers but it was in that awkward spot that couldn't be wiped away...we laughed and laughed and laugh...it might be one of those moments that you had to be there for..but it was super funny!  Maybe it was funny cause all the rest of the moments were saying goodbye!

So on Wednesday was transfers and I got my new companion. Her name is Sister Reber and we were in the same YSA ward in St George, so we kinda a really knew each other! Such a huge blessing because we skipped the hole super awkward first car ride home part of transfers. We get a long great and I feel like I can just be my crazy self around her..we have had fun so far and so that awesome. I think that we are going to have a great time working together and I’m super excited to see what fun things are in store for us!

Prior Lake is a nice area, about 40ish minutes outside the twin cities..completely different then Austin...we were finding the first night I got here and it was so weird for me to knock on Big houses and to talk to white people again! I feel like I had just gotten used to teaching people who didn't know much English and now I’m teaching super smart people! Funny how the Lord sends us from one extreme to the other. One miracle that happened is that on my first night in Prior lake we knocked on this super nice home and met an older couple and talked with them for like 35 minutes..we shared the message of the Restoration of the gospel with them and they said we could come back..and so on Sunday evening we went back...and they totally let us in and we had another great conversation with them..we invited them to church and the presidents fireside next week, but they said that they couldn't come but they would love to come another week..and they even are letting us come back on Saturday!  As we talked on Sunday night, I could totally see how Heavenly Father had put us in their path to help them find truth.  They are totally searching for something more and it’s so clear to me! I know that sister Reber and I were meant to meet them!

On Saturday we got to go with our ward to help the Feed my starving children pack food for kids in other counties..it was so much fun! It was great to serve with the members of my new ward and to get to know them in that setting..they said that on Saturday they put together over 3 million packages of food! Crazy!! I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to help and provide food for children that don't have it..it made me feel so blessed! I’m truly one of the most lucky people in the world!! Heavenly Father has not only blessed me with a great life, but also his gospel and the knowledge of him and his son....Thanks for all the love and support yall continue to show me!

Week 12 Austin, Minnesota

My district!

Me and Sister Olsen under some awesome graffiti..hahahaha

FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!

What another great week in the MMM! holy cow! I really just don't know what to say about it...this week was great and so many miracles happened! Crazy how much the Lord blesses us on a daily basis! I don't remember what I wrote last week so if I repeat then sorry! But Monday was another semi-house arrest day and what a blessing it was!! Heavenly Father knew that I needed a FULL day off to get myself together! I also got my hair done and it is okay..not really what I was going for, but its cold out side so I wear my beanie most days :) My hair misses you SUE!! Sister Amis and I are pretty much on FIRE! Heavenly Father has sent us people who are truly prepared to hear his gospel!!! I love seeing the growth in our investigators each week! They are being changed in so many ways and they come to know more about their Savior. Brother L continues to make me smile each and every day we meet with him...he has such I desire to learn about the gospel...on Sunday we were walking out of Sunday school and he was telling one of our other investigators: in his crazy Asian-English that "my day is February 15...when is yours?" talking about baptism and our other investigator responded that he didn't know "when his day was yet!" it make me smile, like a proud mom! He was just so excited about it! He reads the Book of Mormon all the time and always texts us with great questions! What a "golden" investigator!!

So the joke in our district is that here in Austin we only teach those who don't speak English! During district meeting, the Elders we making fun of us and joking about how we don't have a "normal" teaching pool....well on Wednesday we were doing some finding and we knocked into a younger lady and we taught her about the Restoration and where able to set up a return appointment for Wednesday night...She is totally awesome! Like I pretty much think that she will be baptized! But the best part is that she is AMERICAN!!! When we got back out to our car we had to call our leaders to tell them that we found a "white" investigator! it was kinda funny!

Sunday was a AMAZING! First, we were able to go to church! I really missed not having church last week and how that it doesn't get canceled again. It was fast and testimony meeting and like all the testimonies were about missionary work and the Restoration of the gospel, it was perfect for our investigators to hear!...no worries, I paid them all after ;) and then our district leader came teaching with us and we had some great lessons! the spirit was so strong!! it was so great! My favorite lesson we taught was with our investigators Brother K and Sister N. They are both from Africa and speak French...Sister N is the translator cause Brother K speaks VERY little English. We have been teaching them for about a month now. We taught the gospel of Jesus Christ...When we got to baptism the spirit was perfect and I asked Sister N, if she would be baptized and she said YES! so we set a date for March 8! She is so awesome! Brother K wants to wait for his wife to come over from Africa before he commits to baptism, but who knows what will happen :)

So, I'm getting transferred this week to Prior Lake...so if you want to sent me mail..sent it to the mission home address please....ummmmmmmmmmmm ya.......i pretty much cried when I saw the transfer email this morning cause I’m not ready to say bye to all my friends here in Austin and Sister Amis! We have been getting along so well and we teach great together!:( But its whatever I guess...my new companion is from St. George and she was in my YSA ward...her name is Sister Reber so that is pretty cool..and should be fun...but I will really miss Austin and Sister Amis....Well I hope that everyone has a great week! thanks for all the love and support!
