Week 16 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Family and Friends!!

it has been a great week in the MMM!! The sun is here and it’s starting to feel more like spring/summer!! it’s crazy to think that last month I was walking around in my big black coat and now I’m wearing short-sleeves!! So, here is the thing..Sister Reber and I are going to the zoo with a member today and so I don’t have much time to type..I’m super excited cause I have never been to a zoo before..this will be the first time!! So sorry for the short letter this week

One of the highlights of the week would have to be the zone conference we had on Tuesday.  It was all about the family and why we have families and how we can build strong families!!  The whole time I thought about how I’ve been blessed with the best family in the whole wide world!! They are the greatest!! We also talked about our future families and how we as elders and sisters can prepare to be mothers and fathers, wives and husbands. They talked about how we can learn from the families we serve with how to become better.  We each got little notebooks write down stuff that we learn from these families!! Well, we are going to the zoo!! I will write more next week and even send a picture!! Thanks for all the love and support!!

Week 15 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Family and Friends!!!

So, it’s like pretty much raining buckets again as I type!!! The rain is LOUD and just coming down!! It wouldn't surprise me if we found a new lake outside!! hahaha! Not gunna lie, I’m so over all this rain...we had a great weekend-totally got my first sunburn of the year-and now we have dark cloud cover and rain! WHAT IS THIS?!?! it’s so rude!

this week has been great and seemed to have got by so fast! it feels like it was just pday yesterday!  so, here is a quick sum-up of my week!

SUNDAY!

Today we went over to the C family's house and helped make and EAT tamales! HOLY COW! they were so good!! and not that hard to make! it was fun! the kids are so funny! when we were there last we played "dont eat pete" with them, so of course they wanted to play again yesterday...we didn't have any M&Ms with us so they thought we could just play with the tamales! Sister C didn't like that idea!  After our cooking lesson we went to the Mission President's Fireside.  President's fireside is a meeting where recent converts will share their stories of how they came to know that the church was true and how it has impacted their lives.  We took our investigator Sister K and she seemed to really enjoy it! the speakers were really good! I love how everyone has a different background! No two stories are ever the same! The spirit was strong and it was a great night!

SATURDAY!

It was a day of finding...we didn't have much luck, but have a few new potentials, which we can work with :) It was stake conference this weekend so, Saturday night we went to the adult session and it was great! Brother C for our ward shared his conversion story, along with a lady who has been less-active for YEARS...i loved both of  there talks! Elder Spackman of the 70 was here and also spoke.  He did a really great job and shared so awesome missionary experiences...my favorite was his stories about the people he talked to while on the airplane..it made me think: well, airplanes would be a perfect place to contact people because it’s not like they could runaway or anything...to bad we cant leave our area!! Overall, I really enjoyed it!

FRIDAY!

On Friday I attended my second funeral service of my mission: Sister B's daughter lost her pet cat Sir Simon last winter and it has been sitting in Sister B's freezer ALL winter because the ground was to frozen to bury it! the service was short, all the better! We placed Sir Simon in the garden....the best part of the hole event was when sister B asked why the hole was so deep..it didn't occur to her that if the cat was not buried under the frost line, it could pop up next spring...Then the thought came..how far down did we bury the other cat last year???? totallly was not that deep!!! She is so freaked out that a zombie cat is gunna pop out of her garden!!

THURSDAY!

On Thursday we had a great lesson with Sister k.  We watched the Joseph Smith movie and HOLY COW!! the spirit was so strong! After the movie was over, we all just sat there..not wanted to move...I know, without a doubt that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God...that he was called to restore Christ Church again on the earth.  Sister Reber shared her testimony with sister K and it AWESOME! Sister K totally felt the spirit and said that it gave her a lot to think about..in a good way :)

WEDNESDAY!

We had a great lesson with Sister G.  We had it at the church with our ward mission leader Brother LB.  It was so GOOD! by the end of the lessons we were all in tears! the spirit was so strong! Funny how that happens.  Brother LB shared a personal story with us about how Heavenly Father sometimes didn't give us what we ask for in prayers because he has something even better in mind for us....this was not the first time that i've heard someone say that, but I guess I never really understood it before now! it totally clicked! Right after he said that I thought of a couple things that I had prayed so hard for before, yet the outcome was the total opposite.  It wasn't until wednesday that I understood why; Heavenly Father had something different and far more better in mind then what I was asking! I know that it’s true.  I know that as we pray, he hears and answers them..just not always on our time table or in the way we want..but answers and understanding DOSE come.

We also did some finding today..and one never knows the type of people you will meet while finding...we met this guy who was one card short or maybe five cards short a full deck..it was GREAT! He told us over and over and over how Sister Reber and I were "clairvoyant"  it was really funny...he also told us about how there are evil people in this world that looked like us good people and we needed to watch out! it was so funny, I was trying to hard to hold back my laughter!

TUESDAY!

On tuesday we did some finding in the afternoon.  We were not having the best luck, but it was whatever I guess...as we were walking back to our apartment, Sister Reber thought we should try one more..so we did.  And it was the one! We met a lady named A..we talked to her for a bit and were able to share with her the message of the restoration.  It was really cool!

MONDAY!

oh, last monday...was our pday.  We went shopping and just hung out at home...nothing to exciting, yet super relaxing!

So, in the sister missionary world our half way mark is a big deal..we love to celebrate it and take pictures to remember it..so I hope yall enjoy the pictures of Sister Reber and I :) we will always remember our 9 month mark!! I hope everyone has a great week! Thanks for all the love and support! I have the BEST family and friends in the world!

PS! it will not let me send my pictures with my email..so yall are just gunna get like 50 eamils from me :)

Week 14 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Friends and Family!!!

It has been a WET week in the MMM! The rains keep coming DOWN! We have gotten some breaks in this madness, so I guess is shouldn't complain too much....besides the rain, it has been a great week, full of really random things!   The thought keeps coming to me: why do people let 18-21ish year olds come into their homes and teach them about Jesus?? Like, in what world does this make since....MY WORLD because it happens day after day and week after week! This is one of the ways that Heavenly Father reminds me that this is his HIS work and he will always provide a way for his work to get to all his children..even if that means, sending us into peoples homes to invite them to follow his sons example and be baptized! Yes, that is what I do!!! And it’s just GREAT!

I guess to start this week, I feel like recounting my week backwards:

<So, yesterday I got to Skype my family! it was so awesome!!! I couldn't believe how big stu is getting! I love that nothing has really changed...my relationships with my family is still the same! My best was when they flipped the camera to the TV to try and show me this cute golfer kid who is all the talk in the golfing world...I think his name is Jordan..or something like that! It made me smile to know that it was okay to just be my boy-crazy self..even as a servant of the Lord!  We talked about lots of random stuff, but that is how I wanted it to be!! I’m so grateful for my family and the love and support that they gI’ve me!!! They are the BEST and I’m so grateful for them!!!>

<On Saturday there was a baptism in my ward...it was one of the primary kids.....he is poly and holy cow!!! the family and food that there culture is centered on showed!!! my favorite part was on the invite it said that a "lite lunch" would be served after...yall! there was NOTHING lite about that lunch!!!! they packed our plates high and deep! and then told us to go back for more!!! I could hardly get through the first layer...and then the thought came that I had to eat again in 2 hours at our dinner appointment popped in!! Lets just say that I know that the atonement is real cause I was able to eat the food on my plate and the food at our dinner appointment and I didn't puke! true story!>

<On Friday, we had a great lesson with our investigator sister SS. she has been meeting with the missionaries for months.  Sister reber and I are kinda at a point where we don't really know what to teach her next.  We have gone over all the lessons and nothing seems to be clicking.  So we came up with a lesson on friday..however, it didn't really feel right.  So we changed it to the Holy ghost.  Of course I was not gunna say anything, but in my mind it was thinking: Sister Reber, we have taught her about the holy ghost for the past two weeks..I feel like we are beating it dead with a stick!!! I didn't say it and just went along with it praying that the spirit would lead us to what she really needed to her....Come to find out, that the spirit had already lead sister Reber to just what she needed to hear and that was the holy ghost! it was so cool to see how sister reber was able to answer all the questions that sister ss needed in the lesson she was so inspired to prepare! It was awesome!!! I will never question sister reber again on a lesson plan in my mind again!>

<So, Thursday, was GREAT!  we had a lesson with sister w and it was totally wicked! Sister reber and I had planned to watch a movie on the life of joseph smith with her.  So we got all ready and were enjoying the opening scenes when her DVD player freaked out and skipped to the end of the movie!  We did everything we could think of to stop it from happening, but nothing would work.....it would just keep skipping! I leaded over to sister reber and said that I didn't think that we were meant to watch the movie with her today..she agreed and then asked what we were gunna teach...uuuummmmmm...here is the thing...we didn't plan a backup lesson so we just winged it! And what do you know, the spirit took over again and it turned out to be an awesome lesson! We talked about the gospel of Jesus Christ (faith, repentance, baptism, holy ghost, enduring to the end) and how if we apply it to our everyday lI’ves we will stay on the path that leads us back to our heavenly father.  Sister w thought it was great and just loved how it all made so much since! we even talked a little bit about her getting baptized and she didn't get mad at me this time!! It was cool to see how she is experiencing a change of heart and thinking more about getting baptized herself!>

<Wednesday, we had exchanges! exchanges are fun because you get to work with different sisters in the mission and get to know the other missionaries.  I stayed in Prior Lake and our new STL sister Breedlove come to work with me and sister reber went to work with sister Simpson.  It was really fun to get to know sister breedlove and work with her.  She is a great missionary and knows how to get the job done! she is super spiritual and you can feel the spirit so strong when she testifies of what she knows to be true.  We had fun together and were able to find a new investigator (who sister reber and I will be meeting with tonight). WE also had district meeting for the first time since transfers and it was kinda weird...just about half the missionaries are new to our district and it was really quite cause like no one would talk! thats one think I hate about transfers, everyone gets all awkward around each other! We also met with our investigator sister G.  she is getting ready to be baptized next week and we pretty much had a party at her house...we had our zone leaders and a member at the lesson with us! it was awesome!!! I love it when we have lots of people at lessons cause you get lots of different ideas and opinions.  the spirit was so strong and sister g even shared her testimony with us and she is SO ready for baptism!>

<Tuesday, we met with our investigator sister k, who is still just moving right along...i love teaching her because she has truly been changed as she has learned about the restored gospel..the light that is in her eyes, brightens my days..i don't think she even knows how much i'm grateful to be able to teach her!  She has really opened my eyes to how important the gospel is in our lI’ves...she has such a great relationship with her father in heaven and truly only wants to follow him...working with her has also made me so grateful to have grown up in a home with the gospel...i think that as a life long member of the church I have really taken for granted the presences of the spirit in my home and the blessings that have come because of it.  How much more I want that in my future family!>

<Monday! crazy story..so sister reber and I thought it was time that we cleaned out our filter in our vacuum..so we went outside to the big dumpster.....Well, here is the thing, id doing so we dropped an important piece inside the dumpster.  I asked sister reber if it would still work with out it and she just looked at me and said: do you really think that it would work without the FILTER???? you idiot! So, I did what any good friend would do and took one for the team and got in the dumpster and fished the filter out! Yes is smelled gross and there were a couple of flies, but I managed to get out alI’ve! WE went about our pday and when the time came to go outside to meet our joint teacher for the lesson we had that night, I couldn't find my step-counter.....we looked EVERYWHERE and it was no were to be found...then it come to me!!! I had it on when I jumped in the dumpster and I bet it fell off! So we ran back outside...and what do you know..sitting at the bottom was my step-counter! so, skirt and all I jumped back into the dumpster to get it...and of course the moment I get my head out is see our joint teaching laughing and taking pictures of my in the dumpster in my work clothes! So dignified..RIGHT!?!?>

Well, that sums up my week, i'm so grateful for all the love and support I have! I have been blessed with the greatest family and friends! Thanks for all the emails, letters, prayers!!! it really means so much! I hope yall have a great week!!!

Week 13 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Me and my new! Toothbrush!! it’s so coolbeans YO!

Sister Reber and I saying bye to sister Toni

Friends a Family!!

What a week in the MMM! Crazy how time seems to be flying by!! I freaks me out that its already May! So, this week will be my "HUMP DAY" and its weird to think that i'm half way done!!! I dont think i've been out that long!!  I hope that the second half is just as awesome as the first! I will keep my fingers crossed :)

I NEVER thought in a million years that 50* would feel so great, but holy cow!! its finely starting to feel like spring here.  Because to the buckets of rain we got over the last couple of days and days and more days its greening up and the trees are starting to bud! Not to mention the boats that are on the lake and the fishers are out JACK! It makes me laugh cause I’m sure that yall have been boating for months now! I told sister reber that summer is a coming!! We are gunna crack out the bikes this week! I never thought this weather would come!! It makes me so happy to see the sun again and to feel the warmth! I just love it!

We had an excited week of teaching and finding.  We started the week in Lakeville with sister Hyland. Her companion, sister Toni was going home so we had to "baby-sit" until her new companion came on Wednesday. We did a lot of finding! I’m not sure that I really like being in a tri-companionship because it freaks people out when they open the door and 3 girls have them cornered in their doorway!  I think I’m good to just stick with two of us! But none the less we had fun together!

We had some awesome miracles this week! Our investigator sister w come to church!!!!! Never thought that would happen so soon!! Since day one she has always told us that she will not come to church or get baptized....I of course took that as a challenge and what do you know..she came to church.  Now, I’m not saying in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM that I had anything to do with it...it was the spirit that did all the work, all sister reber and I did was keep inviting and being our sweet selves! She has taught me that we never give up on our invites, no matter how many it takes! I know that as we follow the spirit, we will be able to touch people’s hearts! Every lesson we have with sister W is led by the spirit and it’s so cool that she every can see that! She says that out of all the religious people she meets with, in our lessons she feels a different energy and always gets her questions answered! it’s totally only a matter of time until she accepts the baptism invite! and I cannot wait for that day!

We found this sweet lady yesterday! it was totally cool! Sister Reber and I come home after dinner and because of time, we knocked in the apartments down the street from our house.  we were walking up these wooden stairs and I'm not gunna lie, I was nervous that I would brake one of the steps! it was really old and kinda creepy!! up at the top we met CC.   She is a single mom, who didn't so hope.  As sister Reber and I talked to her, it was cool to see how the light in her eyes got just a little brighter..as I shared the Joseph Smith story with her, I knew that this is what she needs right now.  We are going back this week and I'm super excited, I hope that we can help her feel the spirit and so she can learn that this is what will truly help her and her kids most right now.  I love how the gospel can change our lives as we are willing to let the spirit into our hearts.

So, last week I wrote that we got a referral..so all week we tried and tried again to contact her, but had no luck..so we will give it another go this week and I will let you know how it goes!

We had a fun lesson with Brother and Sister B this week! Before I say about the lesson, I just  have to say that I totally love them!! they are so funny and cute together!! I want to be like them when I grow up!  We taught the gospel of Jesus Christ (Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Holy Ghost, Enduring to the End). We used the old school Mario video game as our inspiration! it was totally cool! We found Mario fruit snacks, which was a good snack during the lesson! Brother B thought it was awesome and said that he loves how we will teach gospel concepts in new ways!  What we didn't tell him is that it takes us forever and a day to think of new and fun ways to teach him the gospel! I have NO IDEA what we are going to do this week...if anyone has cool object lessons...PLEASE feel free to send them my way!! THANKS!!!

On more of a sad note, this week we also helped sister B pack her mom’s apartment up because she will have to move to a nursing home.  Hearing all the drama there brings back the CRAZY memories of moving my great grandma!! Fun how those traumatic experiences come back!!! hahahahahaha! No, but it’s still super sad and it makes me NERVOUS that I may have to do that in the VERY DISTENT future...as my mom would say: SPARE ME THE DRAMA!!!

So, finding...you never know who your gunna meet when you knock on random doors! We met this really nice kid named MW.  Here's the thing, yall know those super smart people, who when they speak it totally just goes WAY over your head and makes you feel like the inside of your head is a tunnel...well that is MW.  He is so smart! it’s almost gross!!! When we knocked on his door, we asked him if he was a student and he said that he was a Bio major....Well, I was a bio major before I left so, like an idiot I said coolbeans me too! Well, I asked he what he wanted to be when he grow up and what came out if his mouth next....ummmmm...i really have no idea what he said..for all I know it could have been GERMAN! The rest of that conversation was so over my head! Somehow, we were able to change the subject to religion and I thought now I would be able to you keep up, but...aaaahhhhhh...I think all I did was let my blondness SHOW! like hard-core!!! As we walked back to our car all I knew was that we were going back this week..and it’s gunna be an adventure cause I have no idea what he says!!! sometimes I dislike smart people!

so I really don't know what more to say..so...ummmm hope yall have a great week and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
