Week 8 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Friends and Family!!

It’s been another great week in Prior Lake...Big news!! Sister Reber and I were able to walk outside without all our layers on!!! That’s right; it was warm enough to go tights free!!! The only down side to this is that everyone got to experience the blinding whiteness of Sister Hulet's legs!!! They have not seen the sun in like 6 months!!! It’s kind of a problem! It was like 50* here on Sunday and everyone was breaking out of their hibernation to enjoy it!  I wish that the warm weather would last, but we woke up to wind and rain this morning :( Not coolbeans!)

This week, Heavenly Father blessed us with so many miracles; I don't even know where to begin.  On Thursday night, Sister Reber and I were doing nightly planning and when we looked at our numbers for the week, I was not ok! Although, we had a great week so far of teaching, we had done little to no finding..and that is a problem...in my head I was freaking out cause on friday when our district leader would call for mid-week report..we would have low numbers and it drives me crazy when we get lectured about it.  I knew we had to pray for a miracle or two and fast! Heavenly Father totally inspired us because on Friday night we met some really awesome people.  One was a boy named Z.  He had just gotten home from the funeral of a really close friend who ended his life...he was feeling really down and depressed..We were able to share some of the peace and hope that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ has brought us in our lives.  It was really cool to be able to share my testimony with him.  After that we started to walk home because we were kinda far from it and it was getting dark...on our way up the street, I told Sister Reber that we should stop by a potential we found a couple of weeks before...his name is G and he was home and we were able to talk to him too and scheduled a time to come back to talk to him and his wife.  I had never in the 7ish weeks serving in Prior Lake been able to teach 2 restorations in one day!! It was a MIRACLE! We did go back and talk to G and his wife on Sunday evening and it was awesome! The spirit that was in the lesson was really peaceful..When we walked in G told us that the day before he got a call from home that his father had passed away!! Again Sister Reber and I were able to share the message that families can be together forever because of the Restoration...it made me smile because now twice I was able to testify of what I know is true and be able to find peace in that message myself...one thing I have noticed this week is that heavenly father gives me challenges at specific times so that I could testify to others and be able to really understand what they are feeling and going through.  I find it crazy that each time I’m faced with a challenge, I find someone else who is facing that same challenge or something close to it..WEIRD! hahaha!

So, on Tuesday we had dinner with an older couple in our ward.  They took us to the taco bell and I got a great education there.  The first lesson I learned is that heavenly father truly blesses missionaries in ALL phases of the work....you see, to get to the taco bell, we had to get in the car with this older women..who doesn't drive that often and it was kinda scary.  I was maybe freaking out just a little as she drove..the thought totally came to me that I might just die here and now as she turned super sharp and when kinda fast. I honestly don't know the words that would best describe our drive to the taco bell...the second lesson I learned is that tacos and sister Hulet don't really get along...I have NO idea how in the world I ate the food, but the really question is how in the world my body was able to keep it down?!? To this day I don't know, but I will not test it AGAIN!! I'm done eating at the taco bell!!

Saturday night was the women's broadcast and it was so good!! I thought it was cool how I could connect the dots between what was shared 6 months ago and this time...I felt that the message built on each other and they both had to do with keep our covenants, both baptism and temple, and how we will be blessed as we do so.  The speakers were great and the spirit was so strong..I really liked all the videos that they shared..I thought that was really neat and helped keep us into it...but what was the best part of the whole thing, we were able to get one of our investigators to come and she brought her daughter along with!  I was so excited to see them there and that they would come together.  I thought that it was cool for them to see all the mothers and daughters that were there and to feel the love and hope that was there.  I thought that because it was my second woman's broadcast away from home it wouldn't bother me to not be there with my mom..but it was not any easier! However, seeing our investigator there with her daughter was so worth it!!! My favorite part was the movie that showed our journey along the path we walk as we make and keep our covenants..it was a good one!

Well, that’s all I can think of the tell yall about my week..so I hope that yall have a great week!!! Thanks for all the love and support!

Week 7 Prior Lake, Minnesota

I made green Oreos for St. patties day!

one of our investigators went to the Imagine Dragons
concert in St. Paul and got us t-shirts!

we found a bracelet that said JESUS on it in a laundry mat

Friends and Family!!

It has been a pretty good week in Prior Lake.  Sister Reber and I were super excited to be able to work together for another transfer!  We are hoping to keep the high energy up and knock out another great 6 weeks!  We hope to have even more crazy adventures this transfer!  This week has been great! Since it was St. Patrick's day on Monday we ate A LOT of cabbage and corn-beef..this was a new experience for me cause I’ve never had it before, but it was pretty good.

A highlight of the week was teaching our investigator Sister K.  We have had some really great lessons with her the past couple of times we have been over there and it has been awesome to watch as things started to click for the first time..she has been investigating for years and has been kind of a roller-coaster investigator where she will progress and then she will just stop and want nothing really to do with it.  Last week we started with the restoration again and talked about the book of Mormon and why it was so important in coming to know if the church was true or not.  When we went back on Wednesday, she said that she had lots of questions for us and I’m not gunna lie, that totally scared me.  However, when she started to ask us the question it was awesome to see that the lesson we had prepared totally answered all her questions!! We had even had a diagram that we put together!!! The spirit totally prompting us!!! It was so cool!  I''m so looking forward to go back to teach her tomorrow!! It should be sweet!

I went on exchanges this week with the North field sisters and that was fun...I was in Lakeville again and it was cool to teach some of the same people again...But no worries this time guys!!! I was able to keep the WOW! hahah!  We has an awesome experience while finding though...so I had picked a street for us to knock the night before and so we went there and the first couple house we knocked no one answered..but on the 4th house we knocked a lady came to the door...we started talking to her and come to find out, she had been going through a really hard time in her life and earlier that day she was washing dishes and just asked God to send her help...and what do you know, we come knocking at her door a couple hours later! We were able to teach her about the Book of Mormon and about the restoration..it was so cool to see the light that come to her eyes as we talked about how she could find peace and hope from reading its pages...it was such a cool experience! Sorry, my words just cannot describe the feeling I had while we were standing on her door step. It was cool that the spirit had totally told us where we needed to go.  Exchanges are fun, but it’s nice to be able to work with your companion again and in your area again.

On Saturday for dinner we were over at a lady in our wards house who is from Asia..and she feed us some Thai food...it was different..and HOLY CRAP it was spicy!!! Like not in the good kind of way..like the burn the crap out of your lips and face kind of way...I looked over at sister Reber after we had taken a bite of this salad (it was like this shredded-cabbage that was jacked up with all kinds of Asian sauces then wrapped in a big piece of lettuce) and her face was redder then a fire truck! It was so funny!!! I know that it was heavenly father helping me get through that meal..I would not have been able to handle it otherwise..not just on the spice level but on the taste level too...I’m not a Thai fan..it’s a good thing that I’m serving in the states and only have to eat crazy food every once and a while, not every day!!

We had a really fun FHE last night with an investigator Sister G and a family in our ward...we watched an 80s movie that made me want to laugh out loud! I'm so grateful to have not lived during the 80s cause the clothes and hair styles were just not that great!! Now, I know what most of yall are gunna say: "They have totally come back" But here is the thing...the ideas and concepts may have come back but they are done in an updated way...and that is all I have to say about that....but ya, during the movie it was so hard not to laugh and kill the spirit. Although it was super outdated and the acting was so funny, the message was awesome and totally still the same we share with people today.  It was about the Plan of Salvation and how we can be with our families forever...funny how fitting that is with what has happened in my family this weekend. WEIRD how the spirit works! But the FHE was fun and I think that everyone had a great time :)

Well, I hope that everyone has a great week and thanks for all the love and support!!

PS! HAPPY BIRTHDAY STUUUUUUIEEEEEEEE!

Week 6 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Friends and Family!!

It’s been another great week in the MMM.  Heavenly Father has so answered my prayers and has blessed us with some warmer weather and it has been great!! Sister Reber and I have been doing a lot of walking..its so great! I really like walking cause we can talk to more people that way, since the weather has been warmer people are starting to spend some time outside their houses..and it helps us cause it’s so much easier to talk to people as you walking by then to knocking on their door.  The snow is starting to melt and its weird to see grass, and all the other crap that people have in their yards here...like lawn ornaments and what not that have been buried for the winter.  I have retired my black strait coat for the spring/summer and I feel like I've lost 5 pounds!! it’s great, who would have thought that that coat weighted so much.  Now, I'm looking forward to the day that I can retire my boots...that will be a great day!! I miss being able to switch up my shoes and have cute ones that match what I'm wearing.  One day...one day.

Our investigators are doing great. We had a good week, full of great lessons and experiences!! On Tuesday we were able to go to the temple and help clean the chandeliers...they are so simple when you look at them really close.  We took a BIG one apart and cleaned each crystal..it was awesome! I love the feeling that is in the temple-even when everything was being pulled apart and there was paint, latters, hammers, and all kinds of tools spread all over...it reminded me of when Stu would be building and have all his crap out...But none the less the spirit that fills the temple was the same and it was fun.  Wednesday was our last district meeting of the transfer..it was funny to hear all the elders predict what they thought would happen for transfers and who was in and who was OUT! They are so crazy!  And it’s all good Sister Reber and I will be together for another transfer!  The elders all made curry and we have to be the taste testers and at first I was not so sure about that idea cause who knows what they put into their dishes..but it was not that bad...that's right! I manned up and ate some curry that elders cooked! No worries I’m still alive and so is my tummy!

Thursday was a BUSY day packed with lessons! We taught pretty much everyone! I kinda felt like we are running all around the town cause we had to drive from one spot to the other and back.  We were finally able to get in with our referral named Sister M.  She is awesome and Sister Reber and I are SO excited to teach her.  She told us about how her friend who lives out of state just got baptized and how she has this light about her that was not there before...she told us that she wants that same light in herself..she is just ready to do whatever we ask her to do!! We taught her the restoration and about the Book of Mormon.  It was great! She was super excited about it! I'm super excited to work with her!

Saturday, we had Sister Clements (the mission president’s wife) come teaching with us..we taught a less active and her boyfriend. I was so scared!!! Like when I was trying to explain prophets I couldn't think strait cause she was sitting right next to me and I didn't want to say the wrong thing..but in the end it turned out to be a great lesson and the spirit was totally there.  It is awesome to see how by reading out of the Book of Mormon can really invite the spirit into the room! I love using the Book of Mormon while teaching....it is such a great book! It has been such a blessing in my life.  Truly it has helped me know my Savoir and what I need to do to follow him.  I'm so grateful to be able to share the love I have for it with others.

On Sunday night we went to president's fireside..and it was so awesome!!!  We told our investigator Sister W (we had invited Sister M too but she had to work a double shift so she couldn't..we were all really sad about this..) But it was fun to watch Sister W's face as each speaker spoke.  She totally felt the spirit and kept saying that here was such a great energy about this place..we told her that it was the holy ghost and that the gospel was true..we also showed her around the building and I think that because of how she felt at the fireside we can get her to come to church! It will be great!  So, cool story..after the meeting we were in the gym eating cookies when the Elders serving in the Andover area (my first area) stopped me..they asked if I remember a Brother G..I had to think about that for a minute cause to be honest the name sounded familiar but I couldn't put a face to it.  They started to tell me about a guy who was kinda crazy and Sister Szabo and I had stopped to talk to him one day while we were riding our bikes...then I placed it!! I know who they were talking about..Well, they told me that he had just gotten baptized!!! He had read the Book of Mormon and it had Healed him!!! Like he was not crazy anymore, but totally awesome and had such a strong testimony!  They told me that he always talks about the two girls who stopped on their bike, talked to him, gave him a card (a Mormon.org card), and said a prayer with him.  It was so cool to hear that!! It strengthened my testimony that you never know just what impact you will have on a person and how important it is to TALK to EVERYONE!!! That is why we do that! You never know when you will run into a Brother G.

Well, I hope that you all have a good week!! Thanks for all the love and support!! PS! the other day I got some letters that people had sent me like a month ago that got lost during transfers..so sorry if I asked the same questions or didn't reply..I just got them!!!

Week 5 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Friends and Family!!

What another great here in Prior Lake and guess what!!!!! Today when we went to the library, it was warm enough so I didn't have to wear my big, black, coat!! it’s like 40*ish outside!!! This weekend the weather has been great..Sister Reber and I have been doing a lot of walking to take advantage of the sunlight that we haven't seen in what feels like YEARS!  It’s been awesome!! I'm hoping I can retire my coat until December..that would be so totally awesome!! The snow is started to show signs of wanting to melt and people keep saying that the floods are coming...I keep thinking that they should cause then maybe I can practice my swimming skills!! I was standing in a puddle of water Sunday afternoon and the thought came that that was the closes I was going to be getting to a pool until next year! It made me sad...who would have thought that I would miss the water so much??

Our new apartment is coming along..we have been using whatever spare time we can find to put things away and finish unpacking..I laugh as we do this cause transfers is next week and I can just see one of us getting transferred and having to repack yet again! (knock on wood!)  Our apartment is good size for the two of us..it has a good kitchen that I’m super excited to try out! Prior Lake betta watch out cause some oreos may be coming their way!!  It makes me so happy to be able to cook more! When we have been home for lunch this past week, I’ve cooked all kinds of things just because I can :)

It has been a busy week..we have been going, going, going!! When it was time for weekly planning, it was crazy that we were planning for week 5..the time has gone by so fast! Our investigators are going great...however, some are moving along faster than others...we were able to have our investigator Sister K come to the RS birthday dinner on Tuesday..she even brought her daughter along too! it was fun to have her there and the ward was so great to make her feel like a part of the group..we did a service exchange and had dinner.  They had everyone write down a service they would offer and then we sat in a circle and as they read a story about how RS was organized we would pass the cards left or right as the story told us to do so...it was fun and I think that Sister K had a good time.  Sister G is progressing just wonderfully.  We stopped by to see her yesterday afternoon and she told us the coolest thing! So her mom was interested in learning more about the Mormon beliefs after Sister G son was baptized and so she started going to church off and on.  But we learned yesterday that she had started to have the missionaries over!! Sister G's smile as she told us about this was ear to ear!! It was so fun to hear how the gospel was being spread in their family all because Sister G started meeting with the missionaries!! It’s amazing to see that as we teach and talk to people we influence more people then we realize..it was awesome to see that the joy that the gospel brings to Sister G, lead her to share it with her family!

We met a really cool couple on Saturday as we did some finding..we were walking in a neighborhood when we saw a guy walk out of his garage..we walked up and started to talk to him..he asked us tons of questions about our beliefs and said that he wanted to learn more.  he told us that all he knew about Mormons was what he heard from a friend who took a trip to Utah back in high school...he told us that his friend said that he was chased by a group of Mormons in nice clothes, that drove big black cars, who tried to convert him..it was super funny!  As we talked his fiancĂ© came out and joined in on the conversation..they were super funny and we are going back this week to talk more..it totally made our day!

So, last pday was our district pday...so I guess the pday rule is different in the MMM..so in other missions you can hang out with the elders and sisters in your district each week, however we can only once a transfer.  So we did last week..we met at the church and the elders had set up a huge Nerf gun course though-out the gym..they had tables on their sides and the chair racks spread out..it was like real life Halo! We split into teams and battled it out...JACK!  The hole time I was laughing cause this was so how the elders coped with the fact that they couldn't play PlayStation and Xbox for 2 years!!  The elders were SO into it..like their get-up and all..like it was war! it was a lot of fun and a great exercise!

Well...i don't really know what else to say so...............i hope yall have a great week!! Thanks for all the love and support!! it means so much!!

Week 4 Prior Lake, Minnesota

This cool bear made out of WOOOOOOOD

Pictures of sister Reber and I..just taking random pictures!

Friends and Family!!!

It’s been another cold week in the far away land of Minnesota! No joke, I feel like I’m on another planet some days cause I never know that it got this freaking cold! hahah we have been doing our best to stay warm and I’m happy to report that I have all ten fingers and toes!

It has been a busy week, with so much going down! Its funny cause I think that is way the week went by so fast! Crazy to think that its all ready March 2014!

So, on Monday we moved! We spend most of pday packing everything but the kitchen sink..cause there was not one!...so we could be ready to move to a new home.  The members we were living with had their son move home and so that meant the sister missionaries got the boot!  Sister Reber and I were super sad cause we were just getting to know them and would miss seeing them each night when we would return home from our daily adventures...We were moved to another member’s home until the mission office could find an apartment for us...and what do you know...they found one! and we moved yet again on Saturday..so again we packed everything up and moved it again. Life of a sister missionary right there! In the mist of all the moving, we went on exchanges with our STLs (sister training leaders).  I went to North Field with a sister Sister Hyland....she is from Northern Utah and is one transfer a head of me..it was funny when she said that we were one of the oldies in the mission! I kinda freaked out in my head when she said that cause I don't feel I’ve been out that long!  We had a 24 hour exchange and it was fun..we met with a lot of awesome people...it still blows my mind to think that people let two random girls into their homes to talk religion, like this truly must be the Lords work.  We knocked on a door of an older Asian lady who told us to come in..in her broken Asian-English and started showing us pictures of her family and telling us all about her, like we were old friends! it was crazy! We were able to talk to her about the Restoration and give her a Book of Mormon..it was coolbeans!  While on exchanges we also met with some YSA girls, Sister M and Sister E.  We went over and they fired tons of questions at us about the Plan of Salvation and the Kingdoms of Glory.  It was a different experience because the hole time I couldn't tell if they were laughing at us or themselves because of the questions they asked..when we left I didn't know if I should laugh or be offended.  However, despite all the questions, we had one funny moment...So Sister M and Sister E had made us some brownies and they were really good! let me tell yall what she put in them: brownie mix from the box, milk, eggs, cinnamon, and coffee! When sister M said she put coffee in them, the look on Sister Hylands face as priceless! It was like you had just told a kid that Santa was not real!! I just died of laughter! But the best was Sister M...she was so sad!!! she told us that she had completely forgot we could have coffee and was so sorry!!  it was funny! After we left, I laughed and thought nothing of it...well, on Saturday we had breakfast at our bishops house with the elders in our ward-who are also the district leaders- and the first thing that came out of Elder Lawtons mouth was: "Sister Hulet, I have a commitment for you....Will you live the word of wisdom?" At first I was kinda lost, like why was he asking me that? did I miss something? and then I remembered what had happened! it was funny..however, I really don't know how he found out about that??? it was really funny!

Thursday was zone training..it was great! We learned about how we can ask better questions to help understand the needs of our investigators and how we can use those questions to help them testify of the principles we teach..it was great!  We also talked about 1 Nephi 8. President Elhert pointed out why some people had fallen away after they had partaken of the fruit from the tree..in vs. 25 it says that they were "ashamed"..he went on to say that ashamed could be switched with feeling like they had no value..he talked about how when we feel that we have no value it is another tool that Satan uses to lead us away...and it worked for those people.  My old companion Sister Wiggins is in my zone and it was awesome to see her and to catch up on how she is doing and all the fun experiences she is having in the world of Spanish work.  she is so great and I’m sad that she will be going home at the end of the transfer!  During Zone training we also got this really stylish step counter that we all get to wear all day every day to count the number of steps we take and a bunch of other stuff related to that..we were asked to move more and to record the steps we take each day..We have been asked to walk 10,000 steps each day and to take 6 walking brakes..they said that there is a connection to movement and Revelation.  We are more inline to receive revelation when we are moving..they also talked about how it will help those who are at risk of depression...so now all of the missionaries in the MMM have these and they chip every hour to remind us we need to talk a 5 min. walk! Its great!

Yesterday was fast Sunday and they have become the best Sunday of the month! I love fast and testimony meeting....this Sunday the kids stole the show and it was so great!! I loved hearing their simple testimonies because they bring the spirit like no other! The kids of the church truly understand the gospel in a way I never could! I love that they are not afraid to stand and share what they know to be true.  It was awesome to hear them!  One of our investigators also stood up and shared her testimony and it was amazing! It made my day!!! She is so strong and such a great example to me of a women who never gives up..not matter what life brings you.  She is so wonderful and I’m so grateful to know her.  Following this great Sunday service sister reber and I went to work..we were knocking doors and not having much luck..so she said we should stop by a potential that we had taught a couple of weeks ago...and what do you know! They let us in and we had an awesome chat about the plan of salvation...i kinda felt bad because the they talked to us about a bad experience they had with missionaries of another faith and how they just didn't like the feeling that come into their home when they were there..so it left the door open for us to teach and testify about how much joy the plan of salvation brings to our lives and our families! It was a good lesson!

Things are moving right along and miracles are happening each and everyday! I’m so grateful to be serving my heavenly father and to be a part of HIS work! Thanks for all the love and support!!! I hope yall have a great week!!
