Week 25 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Family and Friends!!!

It’s been a great week in the MMM! so many miracles and just awesome people! I love them!!! It’s so crazy how as you are in the service of you God, he opens you heart and you able to just LOVE everyone!!! I just don't want to leave! I'm so grateful that I get to be here for a least 6 more weeks!

Monday!!!

So, like I said last Monday, sister Pead and I went and played some mini-golf.  that was fun and relaxing, even though I’m not the best at it! I did get a hole in one and so that was really cool! I was so happy! sister pead rolled her eyes cause she had NO idea how I was able to do that! hahaha!! we did our normal pday stuff after: shop, bake, write letters, and sleep! I have never wanted to sleep this much! Sister Pead and I were talking and we can totally feel the last year catching up to us..but its all good!  We also had some great  lessons that night.  We met with sister W and took a recent convert teaching with us, which was awesome! We talked about how important the Atonement is, I loved hearing sister C (recent convert) testify of the power it has had in her life and what the gospel of Jesus Christ has brought into her home.  It was so awesome! this work is TOO good!

Tuesday!

here is the thing..i don't really remember what happened and I didn't bring my planner to the library..so ya..sorry!!! :)

Wednesday!!!

So, Wednesday we went to visit a returning member sister DC.  She is from Asia somewhere and is so funny! every time we go over there she has to feed us something...don't worry, today it was normal food :) none of that Asian food.  But she was so excited to show us the temple dresses that she had made to go back to the temple the following week.  Man, can that woman sew! there dresses were really pretty.  they were made out of different types of white lace.  After she played dress up, she came out with a huge bag of skirts..she said that she couldn't fit into them any more..and so it was our turn to try on clothes.  needless to say we left with a bag each of skirts.  I wore one to church yesterday and it totally made her day! it didn't look to bad, the only problem was that it was like 3-4 sizes too big so I had to make sure it didn't fall off!! hahaha!!!

Later that night the best thing in my world happened! so we went to see sister W again and our less active sister S came teaching with us! I was crying on the inside the HOLE time.  it was so cool to hear her testify to sister W of how the gospel was made a difference in her life.  She was AWESOME!! our lesson was really good and the spirit was so strong! it was so  cool to be in a room talking with a long time member, a returning member, and an investigator...honestly words cannot say how awesome it was....i think thought that at that moment I could really understand why missionary work is important...not only are we here to bring others to the gospel, but to help those who have fallen away and are struggling.  it was just so coolbeans!

Thursday!!

On Thursday we did a service with the Elders.  We got a new Elder fresh from the MTC (missionary training center) so we got to meet him.  He seems really nice, but is still in his shell...so ya..sister pead and I are trying to break him in! hahaha!! But we all went over to the C families house to paint there walls.  it was a lot of fun! We just have so much FUN over there...we got most of the up stairs done so that was a positive.

After painting we had a lesson with sister S and her son, brother T.  so last week we taught him the ten commandments and so when we went over on Thursday we reviewed them and he was able to tell us each one and do the hand actions that go with them! We were so pumped that he was able to remember them! It totally made our day.  We then reviewed the restoration and acted it out..it was really funny and I kinda wish we had it on camera..but we don't so...sorry!

So funny story of the week! on our way home from dinner we stopped by one of the many lakes in our area to take a picture. It was really windy and the waves were crazy! it was almost like the ocean, only we could see the other side where the beach is and you cannot do that at the ocean :) so, we were on the dock and right as I’m about to take to picture, sister peads name tag gets some air and blows into the lake! I just started laughing..and gave me a weird look and asked why I was laughing...told her that I saw the wind rip her name tag off and send it into the water...she looks down and realizes that her tag is gone! and then starts looking into the water to see if she can see it floating in the water.....all I had to say about that was "She gone!"  It was really funny!! Later that night we texted our district leader Froggin (really his name is Foggin) and asked what he would say if a missionary may or may not have jumped into a lake after a name tag....all he said back was: you did not! we had to laugh can like he thought we really would!! we just had to mess with him :)

Friday!!

So, today we went over the M families house and helped sister M get stuff ready for her daughter's birthday the next day.  We were taking off the glue crap that holds the paper on to the outside of baby food jars.  so we were scrubbing and scrubbing and it was not coming off.....so next thing we know brother M goes out to the garage and brings in a can of stuff that takes of tar! so we start spraying that on the jars..and if  you let it sit for a minute and then rub it in, the glue crap comes right off...when we were done brother M looks at the back of the can and reads us the safety guidelines...we pretty much didn't listen to any of them..from what he read it was totally hazardous and not good to use in a room without proper ventilation! hahaha!! we laughed so hard! it was really fun!

Saturday!!

One miracle we saw happened on Saturday. Some recent converts- the G family- invited us over for lunch and this was not just any lunch.  You see, they had the Elders over to eat ribs and when sister G serves ribs, it’s a half rack!  When the Elders were over they were not able to eat them all.  So we took this as a challenge, and all I have to say about that is CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! So when we got to their house, they happened to have family over and Brother G cousin Brother L ate with us. Brother L told us about how he missed his bus ride home earlier and now had to wait for the next bus. At the end of lunch I shared a thought about Faith in Jesus Christ, realizing after that I should have shared the Restoration with Brother L. However, as we talked more about faith, he shared with us how he has had a lot of questions about religion and was not happy with the church he has been attending. We were able to then share with him about the restoration and the spirit was really strong. He took a Book of Mormon and said that he would look up the missionaries when he gets back to his home in Texas. Later we found out that for the rest of the day he wouldn't let go of the Book of Mormon! He held on to it all day. It was really cool to see how heavenly father puts people in our path at just the RIGHT moment when they need the gospel.  Just so yall all know, Sister Pead and I totally beat the elders! We ate all of them!!!

So, that was my week! I'm having a ton of fun and just loving every minute! I’m so grateful that I finally listened to the spirit and come on a mission.  It has been a great experience, that I wouldn't trade for the world! Thanks for all the love and support! I have the BEST family and Friends!!!

Week 24 Prior Lake, Minnesota

me and i boy we are working with...he is the son of sister S, who we have been helping come back to church..this is the picture i drew of the first vision and he was able to guess what it was before anyone else....sister pead laughed cause she said she had no idea what my picture was and she didn't know how brother T did!!! hahaha

Family and Friends!!

So, me and sister pead are getting another go together...we both are staying in prior lake for another transfer!! its gunna be awesome! We have had a lot of fun together, so we are excited to party on again for the next 6 weeks.  Crazy that I’ll be in prior lake for 5 transfers by the end of this next one!! it makes me  happy though...

So, this week was not as adventurous as last week, not a bad thing....sister pead and I needed a week to get everything together after last week :) jokes!! but you know what I mean!

Monday!!

Monday was crazy! We were informed at 9:30 Sunday night that we were in charge of putting together or a "Forbes magazine" for president and sister Forbes.  the zone leaders said that we were the most "crafty" out of the group...I asked what about me screams that I’m "crafty"?!?  But you know me, I was not about to say no..so ya...it was a lot of work to do in just one day.  Yeah, do ask how we got it all done cause it was not approved!  it turned out good, no joke we got it all done and handed it to President and sister Forbes! we didn't even get to get a picture of it! After it was all done we told the zone leaders that they owe us BIG!

Tuesday!

Tuesday we had our first meeting with President and Sister Forbes.  it was cool to get to know them better.  President did a training on working with less active members and building our teaching pool from referrals from them.  it’s a big switch from how we worked before, but it think that as we work with the ward and the less actives we will find more success than we are with knocking doors.  With that said, he made sure we understood that we still needed to do knock some doors :)

We also had interviews with president forbes. it was more of a get to know you interview.  He is really nice and I’m really looking forward to getting to know him better.  He asked me about my family and how my mission has gone so far.  it was really funny cause in the car ride home sister pead and I talked about our interviews and we were asked the same questions! it made us smile!!

Sister Forbes is really awesome too! we talked to her for a bit and she says that she just wants to teach and be with the missionaries.  I’m really looking forward to working more with her and having her come teaching with us.  She is a convert to the church and she shared her story with us...its so cool to see that because of one kids willingness to follow the spirit and open his mouth to share the gospel, president and sister forbes are here!

Wednesday!

Wednesday was our first normal day we had of the week...if that is possible as a missionary! haha! no day is normal!!  We had a full day of lessons and appointments! we met with sister Kangas for the first time since her baptism..she is doing awesome! its so cool to hear how she felt about her baptism...she just glowed! We made her a journal of her baptism day..we had everyone there write in it and had pictures...she really like it!

we also met with brother and sister B. that was fun!! we asked them if they were coming to church and brother b said NO, thats right in the middle of the British open!! I had to laugh because of course he would say that...no worries daddy..he has been keeping up to date on all things that go down in the golf world! :)  including the winner winner of the event! MCLORY!!

Thursday!!

Oh man!! we had the best lesson with sister W today!!! it was so spiritual! we had our district leader come with us and we talked about recognizing the spirit..it was perfect! we wrote down some of the MANY ways that the spirit gives us answers to our prayers on a white board and then asked her if she has felt ABC in her life...then at the end we told we wrote at the top of the board answers from the spirit! At that point it was like a SPIRIT BOMB!! we just sat in the spirit, it was like the perfect moment!!! you could see the spirit speak to her! CRAZY!!!

Friday!!

We did some service today...we went over to the C families and help sister C clean her kitchen!! Man, I love them, they are like my family away from home. they take such good care of us.  They even had us over for dinner...we had breakfast! it was awesome!!  We also went and saw the G family that night.  The G family is another recent convert in our ward.  Sister G is such a great missionary.  She reads the Book of Mormon to her co workers during their lunch break! its so awesome!! She gave them our card so we are hoping they will call us so we can hook them up with missionaries in where they live.  It was so sweet...last time we were over at there house sister G talked about how she didn't have a nativity set because before now Christmas was all about opening presents..so when we went over friday night, I took them my snow man nativity...sister G freaked out! She loved it!! it was so cool to watch her look at all the pieces and then smile and ask how you set them up...we helped her arrange all the piece around the baby snow man, Jesus...it was really cool!

Saturday!

We started the day back at the C families, where we started to paint their living room walls. it was a lot of fun! We then went to a baptism...Elder Foggin and Carbonell have now baptized there hole teaching pool!! it was awesome..they had a double baptism! And what do you know...i was asked to play the piano yet again...it went better this time around, I haven't played for years! I wanted to get a picture of it, but we didn't have time cause I know no one will believe that I really played! haha!!

Sunday!

Normal sunday, we went to president's fireside with the Bs...we told brother b that cause he skipped church for golf he should come to the fireside with us...he thought that was a good idea :) it was good, president and sister forbes did a good job! my favorite part was when one of the recent converts that spoke said that every sunday he eats the bread and drinks the water to stay close to God...I had never really thought about it like that. By taking the sacrament each week we are cleansed from our sins like we were at baptism and that is what does keep us "close to God"....so it was really good!!

So that was my week...now sister pead and I are going to play some mini-golf!! LATER!!!!

Week 23 Prior Lake, Minnesota

district picture

us at the temple

Family and Friends!!

Holy Cow!! I don't even where to begin! it has been one of the most random weeks of my mission and maybe my LIFE!  You see, at first, I was like this is NOT my life! but then I remembered that Satan does everything to throw you off you game the week of a baptism....and he really put up a fight this week, he knew that our investigator Sister K was going to join our side and HE didn't want that to happen....but it totally did! eheheh!!

 Monday!

last monday was not normal. even though I LOVED having the 4th off and partying it up, it was weird not to have a pday on monday. we were busy, but the whole day felt off..it didn't feel like a monday but a tuesday, so I was a day off all week! haha!  Monday night we did have a good lesson with our investigator sister W.  We talked about the BIQs. We had a funny moment when we got to question 4.

Sister Hulet: Sister W, have you ever committed a serious crime?

Sister W: yes.

Sister Hulet: are you now on probation or parole?

Sister W: (confused look on face)  no

Sister Pead: have you ever been to jail?

Sister W: WHAT?!? NO!!!

Sister Hulet: Have you ever broken the law?

Sister W: ......i speed....

Sister Hulet and Pead: hahahahahahahahahaha!!

It was so funny! she thought that was a "serious crime"! it made her feel better when we said that that didn't count for that question.

Tuesday!

on tuesday we had our last official lesson with sister K.  We talked about following the prophet and how we come to know that Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet that speaks for God today.  We watched a movie about President Monson..it was really good.  She loved how much he loved the people he served when he was a bishop.  it was fun to learn things that I never knew about him...there was such a sweet spirit there and after the movie sister pead and I told sister K how we came to know that he was a prophet.  I had to think about it for a minute cause I didn't remember when I knew.  I remember when president Hinckley died and I remember not being sure if president Monson was really the prophet, however, was I started to study his talks from general conference, I knew that he spoke for God today..and that it didn't mean the the prophet before was any less of a prophet, but that the torch had been past! it was a cool lesson, yet it was kinda weird that it was gunna be our last before she would be a member!  I may or may not of cried a little.

Later that afternoon sister pead and I were riding our bikes on the flooded road.  we were on the bridge and at the end there are cement blocks so cars cannot get through..so we had to get on the sidewalk to pass them...i hopped up on the right side and sister pead went to hop the left.  As she hopped the curb, so lost control of her bike and totally scraped the left side of her body on the wall of the bridge! I laughed so hard, but when she didn't stop and kinda jumped off her bike, I knew she was not ok.  I got off my bike and ran over to make sure she was ok.  she didn't break anything, but totally scraped up her arm and had a hole in her knee.  She could fit her pinkey in the hole!!! its doing better now, but it kinda threw us off our game just a little.

Wednesday!

You know that day when nothing seems to be going right and it feels like you should just go back to bed.  Yeah, that was wednesday.  everthing we planned that day changed in some shape or form...it was really annoying....when we got in that night, we prayed that we would be able to plan a better day for tomorrow.  we got in bed and for the first time in a LONG time, I feel right asleep.....in the night, it was like 2:30am I hear keys and a weird noise outside our door....yep! someone had keys to get in our apartment and totally walked in and turned the light on!!! I didn't quite know if I was still dreaming or not..but then sister pead was all: AH HELLO!  the lady that walked in asked us if "katie" was home.....and I said: nope! she then laughed and walked out the door.  I got up and turned the light off and got back in bed...i just layed there thinking that if someone else was to walk in I had NO way to protect myself......at least at home I had a golf cub and baseball bat under my bed! then sister pead says: did that just happen?!? I laughed and said Yeah! it totally did! I laughed! however, it was not that funny!  the next morning we called the mission office and gave them quite the scare! it was really funny cause we just left a message saying that we had a little problem and explained what happened and asked them to call us back...they called back and said we had more then just a "little problem"!  No worries (mom and dad ) now...we have not one new lock, but 4 new locks! no one is gunna get into our room now!!

Thursday!

thursday we went to the temple! I LOVE that place!!! its so crazy how after a trip to the temple can help everything...we truly get POWER when we go there...its one of my favorite places because I feel so close to my heavenly father.  I love the peace and quiet that is there...it helps me remember what in the world i'm doing here in Minnesota. we went with the elder foggin and carbonell.  it was fun. our hole district was there, so it was kind of a party! we also did service and taught sister W again.  We had a great lesson on why we do what we do..we watched a talk by elder uchtdorf called the love of God.  in the talk elder uchtdorf pretty much says that if we truly love God, we will do all he asks and want to follow his example. it was really good! I think that it helped sister W to really understand why we invite her to change.

Friday!

Friday was awesome. we met with a less active and did our thing.  That night we went over to sister K and answered any last minute questions. she was really excited to be baptized! we had the brother she asked to baptize her with us so she could get an idea of where to stand and where to hold his hand and stuff like that.  it was so unreal that her baptism day was coming...to be real, when I first met sister K I wouldn't have guessed that we would be here today! and it makes me so happy!

Saturday!

can you say one of the most stressful mornings! it was crazy! but sister pead and I were able to get to the church in one piece to meet sister K. it was a great service and the spirit was perfect! her family came to support her, which was a big deal! it was fun to see the members just include them into their circle after the baptism. it was just the greatest days! i'm so blessed to have been a small part of it..heavenly father is just to sweet to me to have let me meet sister K and learn from her. She will be an awesome member and will be a positive light to her family.  it was just awesome....i don't know what more to say...

Sunday!

Sunday was good, we had a great RS lesson on the priesthood.  it made me feel so blessed to have a dad who holds it and is always willing and able to use it.  I feel so blessed to have been born into a family that is sealed by the priesthood power and be able to bug them for forever and always! it puts such a big smile on my face! I hope that I can help other families work have the same blessings that I have been given!

Well, that about it! thanks for all the love and support! I have the blessed cheer team!

Week 22 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Family and Friends!!

it has been a crazy-awesome week!!! honestly, I don't know how to describe all that went down this week..it has been the all the above!

 Monday!

on monday we went over to a less actives house to do our laundry and do some crafts with her.  She makes jean bags out of old pants, so she showed us how to make them..sister pead and I worked on one..it made me laugh to see how they totally showed our personalities! I will have to send pictures home then I finish it!  We also had an awesome lesson with sister W.  we talked about baptism and why we are baptized. during the lesson I had a thought to do an object lesson with her because I just didn't feel like what we were saying was clicking..so l turned over to sister pead to tell and she knew the one I wanted to do! it was really cool how the spirit was able to keep both sister pead and I on the same page so the lesson could flow!  We did the water and pepper object lesson and she loved it and it totally clicked for her! it was totally cool! we were able to set a baptism date for her to work towards!  it was so awesome!!

Tuesday!

on tuesday we met with our date set, sister K. it was great! we were able to go over the baptism interview questions so she can be 100% prepared for her interview.  She is so excited about it! She told us about as she has been thinking about her baptism, she can totally see how God has lead her to accepting the restored gospel! the spirit was super strong! Heavenly Father totally has a plan for EACH of us and knows what we need so that we can become who he knows we can.  Each of us has a different plan, yet we can learn and help others progress..its totally cool to experience this everyday.  July 12 is gunna be SWEET!!

on a more funny note..that morning we got a text from the prior lake elders that said: Happy First of July! Of course it made sister pead and I laugh cause the 1st of the month is when we get more miles..and in June we were in the negatives! We replied that we were celebrating with cake and ice cream...the elders then said: are you for real!?! and then sent: OH CANADA! that is when it hit sister pead and I that today was totally Canada day and elder Foggin is from Canada!

 Wednesday!

Wednesday, sister pead and I did some service. We helped sister K pull/cut the weeds or tress around her fence..it was intense! then we did some more service for another investigator.  I LOVE doing service, it makes me so happy! we do the most random things for people!! but that is also how we can feel the Saviors love for them.

 Thursday!

We had our district meeting on thursday...it was good.  My favorite part of the meeting was our white-handbook training..it was on handling firearms of all kinds.  it made me laugh! the elders had drawn pictures of all the kinds of firearms that are against the white-handbook as well as found pictures of stories from the scriptures of prophets and fire, like Elijah setting the alter on fire! ....and then committed us to have a safe 4th of july! it was really funny!  We also had some great lessons and were able to get sister W to commit to come to church! so that was awesome!

Friday!

Oh, man! friday was a serious party!  I have never ate so much hamburgers and hot dogs in my life!  The party started at the 12 at the first members house, the M family.  They had us and the Elder over for a BBQ. it was fun..the elders and us brought pictures of our past lives to show each other.  it was cool to get to know Elder Foggin and Elder Carbonall better.  then the party moved to the C home..were we partied with them and the G families! Fun story! sister pead and I were driving to the C home and in the park we saw the elders sitting at a table playing there "nerd game" magic...then they finally came to the house we totally called them out on it..they said they were "weekly planning" I said: coolbeans, I didn't know that weekly planning came in a magic box! hahahaha! their faces were red! it was really funny! We ate, laughed, did back-flips, watched fireworks, and the Elders taught sister Pead and I how to play magic.  So, magic is like Pokemon for adults..all I could do is laugh cause in what world was I sitting at a picnic table while some Elder was teaching me how to attach sister Pead! it was a lot of fun!

Saturday!

it was really weird not to have a baptism today...it was the first saturday in a month that we were not at a baptism. our area has been on fire! We were able to sat busy though, we helped do more sand-bagging and teaching.  We met with our recent-convert, so that was good.  we have not seen her in a while and so it was good to catch up and see how she and her family was doing.

Sunday!

it was a really great fast-sunday! We had 4 investigators at church! it was really cool to see how different our ward looked! half the people there were recent converts or investigators! it was really cool to see the progress and missionary work that has happened in our ward. Siste pead and I did some finding that afternoon and we met a lady who had the UGLIEST cats in the world! it was so hard not to laugh!!

Well that was a sum up of my life this week! Thanks for all the love and support! I will send some pictures too!
