Week 42 Prior Lake, Minnesota - Transfer to Edina!!!!!

Transfer to Edina, MN

Transfer week!

Family and Friends!

Well, I’m super sad and really nervous to say that I’m getting transferred this week! Can yall believe it! I NEVER thought this day would really come! I’m going to be working in Edina, I don't really know where that is, so I will let all yall know more about that next week, you know, when I’ve been there :)

I'm really sad to be leaving Prior Lake and the ward.....they have really become my family! it’s going to be hard, but it will also be a new adventure! So for that I am excited.

It’s been a good week, sister Anderson and I have just been doing our thing and trying to build our teaching pool, I feel like that’s what I say each week, but that is REALLY what we have been doing for the past couple weeks and I think we have planted some good seeds and have some good potentials to work with.  I think that sister Anderson and her new companion will be able to get the ball rolling again!

We met with this really cool new investigator, R.  He is older and grew up in the projects of Chicago. He has some great stories!! haha!! I think the best part of our visit last week was when he looked at me and said, "girl I know you are trouble and you are with sister Anderson to be controlled!" it made me laugh so freaking hard! in what world does this happen???? Mine I guess.

We also had a great lesson with brother B.  We talked more about the sacrament and how important it is in our lives. As we have been talking, somehow everything is leading us back to the "B" word (baptism).  He is a lot more open with the idea and the wheels are totally turning in his head. It makes me so happy! it would be so awesome to hear that he has gotten baptized! Brother and Sister B are the BEST! I’m really going to miss them :(

We had a fun zone pday this week.  on Monday we went and played laser tag! it was a lot of fun! and we also played games at the church....we had a big game of  chicken in the hen house! hahaha!! it was so funny to watch the elders play! I cannot describe it in words, but it was so funny! and of course we cannot have a get together without a game of bball...i don't understand what it is about elders and basketball....then again, I’m not sure I really want to! haha!!

This week sister Anderson and I also got to go to a high school play: the drowse chaperon..they did a really good job! it was really funny! the kids did a great job, they have a lot of talent! we went with our investigator B and her family!! her dad even come, which was awesome cause we got to talk to him more and get to know him better! POSITIVE!

Well, I hope that yall have a happy thanksgiving!! Thanks for all the love and support!

Week 41 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Foot in Face!

Family and Friends!

It has been a great week in prior lake. me and sister Anderson have been doing good and just trying to build up our teaching pool...and its coming along, slowly but it’s coming!  The snow is coming down as I type and its cold! I’ve had to crack out my BIG coat and I cried! I’m not ready for this weather again...it comes too soon! But it’s all good! The snow is pretty and fun to play in.  Yesterday we stopped by the c families and I played in the snow with the kids for a minute and threw snowballs at sister Anderson...that was really fun! haha!! for me!! haha!!

On Wednesday and Thursday I was in Lakeville on exchanges with my STL sister Toone.  She is from a small town in Utah and has been on her mission for about a year.  It was fun to get to know her better and to work with her. We had a lesson with a recent convert D all about family history.  I was really cool to watch how excited he was to find his family and start to build his family tree...it made me realize that I’m going to have to work on my family history when I get home....and you know do some work!

On Friday we had a fun afternoon making all kinds of jams and jellies with sister B. I love working in the kitchen! it’s so much fun...we made applesauce and strawberry jam. While we were working, brother B come into the kitchen and we had a great talk about a miracle that happened in his life. he has been out of work for the last month because he hurt his back, and on Sunday night he prayed that in the morning he would feel better so he could go to work. and guess what! his back was better! it was so cool! he was so happy about it! I was so excited to hear about it cause its another stepping stone to baptism! he is so close and its so awesome to see how much he has changed in the last couple months! I cannot wait for our lesson this week! its gunna be awesome!

Sunday night we had a great lesson with B. She is progressing right along. we watched the Joseph Smith movie and he really like it. we talked about the how Joseph Smith's experience would apply to us in our lives today.....and it  made me think about how because on his he prayed for answers to a question, we have answers to some of lives questions. it brings me so much peace.  I love how much she is taking in for being a teenager; I wish I would have been more spiritual when I was her age.

This weekend was stake conference.  on Saturday we rode with brother and sister C to the stake center...they had both us and the elders.  us and the elders got talking about the snow because Elder Oliver is from AZ and this is his first winter!!! he was telling us how cold his feet where, and I was laughing cause it was only like 20* out and it was gunna get colder! I told him that wool socks were the best and the pair I have saved my bacon.  He replied by saying he had no idea what kind of sock he had on, all he knew was they were thick....think he said could you check them....of course we thought he was talking to his comp Elder Davis, but before I knew it I had his foot in my face!!  He didn't have on wool socks.........

I did learn more then what kind of socks elder Oliver wears at stake conference...what stuck out to me most was that I need to forgive others like the Savior forgives. He was so quick to forgive people for what they did....and I need to do the same.  I also learned that forgiveness is more for the person giving it then for the person who is receiving it.  it made me think of a quote: forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could be any different. We need to not look in the past and freak out about what people have done, build on it and move on! I need to work on that.

I'm so grateful for all the love and support I have from all my family and friends! It means the world to me! Thanks for all the emails, letters, prayers and stuff that you all do for me! Thanks thanks thanks!!

Week 40 Prior Lake, Minnesota

FEAST!

Family and Friends!

Well, I hate to say it but winter is here! We had our first snow fall of the season last night! It didn't snow very hard, but when Sister Anderson and I woke up this morning.....there was snow on the ground! Our cars are grounded, so we had a good little walk to the library this morning. I loved looking around at the white blanket that covered prior lake. I really like the snow, it’s the cold that comes that gets me! I cannot believe that winter is here, in many ways I feel like it just ended! Where did the summer go!?! Back to our cars, I think it’s really funny that we cannot drive, cause there is maybe an inch of snow on the ground...and that’s if your really pushing it! but the walk was nice so I guess I will have to get over it :)

We have seen so many miracles this week! it’s awesome!  Sister Anderson and I have been so blessed. I feel like the work is starting to move along again. We met some new people and I’m looking forward to going back to follow up.  We also had some great lessons with our people!  We met with brother and sister B this week.  Brother B loves to study the 2nd coming, so we talked about how we can prepare for it.  We started the lesson with the story of the 10 virgins-golf style! It was really funny, but got the point a crossed and at the end of the story, brother B said that he needs to get baptized to be prepared! it was so funny, yet really awesome! We went through some of the signs and talked about they have been fulfilled or how we can watch for them to be. it was good! We also met with the D family.  I don't remember if I’ve ever wrote about them before or not...But the D family is another part member. Sister D was baptized as a teenager but went less active soon after.  Her husband Brother D is not a member.  We have been going over there a little bit and this last week we had a great lesson! The last time we were there we talked about the restoration and prophets...sister D didn't understand prophets....i could see that she was trying to form a question, but didn't really know what words to use.  So this week we talked about prophets. I studying a ton for our lesson, but as we walked in the door I felt super unprepared...i didn't know if it was because I was leading out cause this was the first time sister Anderson had met them or what, but I rolled with it! As we talked I could tell that she was just not getting it! Right then, a question popped into my head...so I asked it.  After she got a smile on her face and said: Yes! that is what I’m trying to ask!! it was so cool!!! I totally felt like I was a tool for the spirit in our lesson....it was super cool!

On Friday we had dinner with sister K and her daughter B. it was a lot of fun!! Before dinner we listened to B sing some of her choir songs and HOLY COW!! B can sing! sister Anderson played some of her songs on the piano and it was really cool to listen...then b got out her Les Misrables (don't know how to spell that) book! My heart skipped a beat!! I was so excited and she sang "Bring Him Home" it so awesome!!! she let me look at the book a little and oh man! I forgot how much I miss the music from that play!!! But I got over that quick :) We talked about the gospel after and it was just fun to get to know B more and listen to her talent! We also made cookies together for the Choir concert on Sunday.

Saturday I had another one of those moment where I know that I was inspired. We were going to do a stop by and it just didn't feel right to me. As me and sister Anderson talked about it she asked what I thought we should do.  I told her that I couldn't get our investigator A out of my head...so we drove up to shakopee where she lives and come to find out she needed help....she hurt her back and had a party for her job she had to go to, but needed help preparing her supplies for it! so we helped! I knew that was where we were needed...i love how Heavenly Father works through us to do his work! and its awesome that he has called me to be the tool!

Sunday night we went the Minnesota Mormon Choral thanksgiving concert. it was awesome! they sang with two other choirs.  The first choir was a Catholic Church choir, they did a good job...they sang a song that was a little Pirates of the Caribbean, but the organ was cool! The next choir was barber shop style! it was awesome! They were my favorite out of all the choirs.  They sang You raise me up and it was so sweet! and they totally were dancing and stuff! it a lot of fun to watch....and then the Choral sang last...they were good....but the other best part was at the end they all sang together! oh man, they sang come thou fount of every blessing! it was the BEST!!! We went with sister K and B...it was really fun and they really liked it!

sister K gave her first lesson as a RS teacher! she did such a good job....it was so fun to see her up in front sharing her thoughts on the lesson and leading the class! it made me so happy! I love watching all the recent converts each week at church, if yall came to the ward, I don't think you could be able to pick out who was new and who was not...they all just blend in and look so in place on sunday...i think its so cool that i've been able to be in prior lake so long and see the difference our work has made on the ward!

Friday was the 15 month mark! so crazy!! I cannot believe that I only have two transfers left before I come home! it freaks me out cause I don't feel like it should be that close! To celebrate all the spiritual growth we have made, I made me and sister Anderson a total feast! You see on Thursday I got thanksgiving in a box from home...and so I cooked it up! And I don't want to toot my own horn, but I did good! it was fun to make miracles in our kitchen! I will send pictures!

Thanks for all the love and support!

Week 39 Prior Lake, Minnesota

Drop it LOW!

Family and Friends!

There has been so much this week; I don't know where to begin! And I hope that I can get it all in here....it’s just been fun!

I guess we will start with the mission conference! We had Elder Carlson of the 70 here to speak to us...and holy cow, he totally brings such a strong spirit! It was crazy cool....I learned so much from the conference; I think that it was one of my favorites so far on my mission! It was awesome. His wife spoke first and she talked about 3 rules-or "guidelines" that we should all have in our lives.

1! the rules apply to you! I think that there has been moments in my mission where I’ve thought that I was above the rules and honestly didn't see much success, it has been when I’ve been striving to be obedient that I’ve see miracles!

2! obedience brings blessings! it kinda goes with the #1 but I know that its true!

3! Change is a good think! before my mission I didn't think that change was all that hard, but it is! I guess I never had any BIG changes in my life, but when we allow change in our lives we are able to grow in ways that we never could before. it is also a part of repentance, so its totally a god thing!

Elder Carlson talked next and man! I should just talk a picture of my notes cause it was so good!! but some of the highlights was when he talked about Heavenly Father is practical and specific, and we should be as well in our prayers and in our planning. As we are practical and specific we will see many more miracles in our everyday work. I’ve been thinking about this all the days since and it’s something I need to work on...I’m not as detailed in my nightly planning and then I don't pray as specific as I should. it made me think about all the times in the scriptures that it says something to the effect of: Heavenly Father knows all things, He know what we need, but is waiting until we ask him for it.  And I think that as I work on planning and praying specific, I will be able to see His hand more each day because I will be asking for specific help, not just general help.

Elder Carlson also had us make a list of all the things we like about President and Sister Forbes...and he asked us to take note of the list because when we are off our missions we need to look for these traits in the person we marry! it was super cute! He then talked about how President and Sister Forbes is our example of what marriage should be and we need to talk note of it. so that was fun...after lunch, he gave us 3 points that we need to apply to our lives!

1! When we get home we need to go to the temple. I love the temple and hope that I can make it a priority in my post mission life.

2! goals are not just rocks in the road for us to trip over. He talked about how when we don't reach our goals it’s not something we need to beat ourselves up for, but to learn from and set new goals. I really liked that one cause I feel like I’ve set goal-mission and not mission- goals that I no longs want to work for or just have not been able to make happen, and that doesn't make me a failure.

3! get people to ask you questions.  When we teach people, they learn best when they are the ones to ask the questions. so, when you are asked about the gospel, don't be afraid to share it with them because they will learn and ask more questions.

So, mission conference was boss and I’m  so grateful I got to go! it was also fun to see all my mission friends, we took a picture of my MTC group that was there, so that was really fun to catch up with them and hear all the many miracles they have had in the past couple months.

This week we had a district pday, and that was really fun! there are some great elders and sisters that I get to work with in this area. We played some games, and I think I was laughing 99% of the time! it was so much fun. We started off with the bag game. its where you take a brown paper bag and set it in the middle of the circle of people. Then you have to pick it with your mouth WITHOUT letting your hands and knees touch the floor....once you our pick it up you rip off a the piece of the bag you had in your mouth...so, as you go around the circle the bag will get smaller and smaller...it was so funny to watch the elders try to "drop it low" and pick up the bag....I think that a person’s height also helps, so I was pretty good! :)  We also played chicken in the hen house...no worries, no mission rules were broken, we were pair up in companionship :) I’m  sure if someone were to have walked into the gym, they would have been like: who are these crazy people?? it was a lot of fun! I’m  in a great district!

Halloween night we had dinner over at the Johnson's house. Every year they have a special Halloween dinner..I think this is something I want to do with my family.  Sister Johnson will have a different theme every year...and this year it was zombies! we were eating different parts of the zombies, from there brain to their toes! It was really fun!! Sister Johnson is so creative and it made it so fun! Halloween night we went trick or treating with the C family kids! Sister C is very into Halloween and it showed in all the costumes!! We had Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Ellza (chick from Frozen), and the cat from Alice in Wonderland, the queen of hearts, and the ghost from Ghost-busters! it was fun!!! The kids got so much candy! All night after Trick-or-Treating they were throwing some at us and the Elders...i ate so much freaking candy! it was crazy!!

Saturday night we had the ward Halloween party....again, I loved all the kids Halloween costumes! They were so cute! We didn't do a truck-or-treat, but just a normal trick-or-treat inside the church..they had us and the elders decorate a door..and yall all know what that means, we decorated the door and the elders passed out the candy! not gunna lie though, we did a great job! our door looked so good! I will have to send home a picture!  I was looking forward to dressing up this year but didn't get too, I was a little sad, but I’m  over it, not worry!

Thanks for all the love and support!! I hope yall have a great week!!
